Acceptable Use Policy

Defined terms (indicated by initial capital letters) will have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.

Acceptable uses of Terra include:

• Conducting research using Terra.
• Sharing reproducible research.
• Developing scientific software tools.
• Making data and scientific software tools available to the biomedical research community.
• Teaching and educational activities.

Terra may not be used in any of the following ways:

• To commit a criminal offense, or to encourage others to conduct acts that would constitute a criminal offense or give rise to civil liability.
• In a way that violates the rights of others.
• To try and gain authorized access or to disrupt any service, device, data, account, or network.
• In a way that harms Terra or impairs anyone else’s use of it.
• Process national security information classified under US or other applicable law.
• Browse, search, reveal or retrieve protected data or information, or in any other way disclose information, for someone who does not have authority to access that information.
• Establish any unauthorized interfaces between systems, networks, and applications owned by Broad.
• Upload any content that contains a software virus, such as a Trojan horse or any other computer codes, files, or programs that may alter, damage, or interrupt the functioning of Terra and its users.
• Post any material that infringes or violates the academic/intellectual rights of others.
• View or use Controlled Access Data (including, but not limited to, as defined under the NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy) hosted on Terra unless you are authorized through the appropriate data access committee.
• Share or distribute Controlled Access Data hosted on Terra with other users unless they have authorization from the appropriate data access committee.
• Use Terra to generate, distribute, publish, or facilitate unsolicited email, promotions, advertisements or other solicitations or mine for cryptocurrency.
• To assist or encourage anyone to do any of the above.
